Ross的煩惱

(2006-07-05 18:24:08) 下一個

Ross is one of my buddies at work. We are both working for an IB on the street. Because he has an office next to mine, naturally he often stops by to chat with me.

Ross has MBA degree from Harvard Business School. He is also a pedigree of a rich family with old money in New England. He is smart, good looking, charming, and very funny. Every party he goes to he becomes the centers of the attention (especially of ladies). The thing he impresses us most is his spending velocity. For example, he signed a lease to rent a summer beach house in East Hampton, Long Island for $21,000 per w eek (yes, a week). Last month he wooed his GF for a weekend in Paris for just saying “I am sorry” (for something he was not supposed to do). We both like to collect red wine, unlike him I think a bottle of red sold for more than $250 could be a potential rip-off, he shelled out over $3,600 for 4 bottles of Chteau Le Pin Pomerol 1999 without even blinking his eyes. But like every thing in this world, there could be a nemesis. even a “Top Dog” like Ross can also be bought down to his knee.

Below were our dialogs before lunch on July 5th.

Ross: “Knock, Knock let’s have a quick bite”.  Ross knocked on my office door.

Me: “It is early for that, isn’t it ?” ( glancing my watch it was only 12:15 PM). “Maybe let me finish this email then, we can go”.

Ross: “Hurry up, I am hungry”.

Me: “what is wrong? You look tired”.

Ross: “Don’t’ even start it” (he hesitated and sighed) “We had a big fight last night, Michelle (Ross’s GF) threw me out”.

Me: “Not again!” I couldn't  help to laugh, “But, on what ground ?”

Ross: “She said I am a pig, only care about sex”.

Me: “Admit, Ross. maybe you are".

Ross: “Ya, right. I heard that before”.

Me: “You can stay my place for few days if you want”. I tried to soften his pain.

Ross: “Thanks a lot, Pal. Tim (Ross’s elder brother) went on vacation and he asked me to take care of Jungle ( Tim’s dog) so I can stay at his apartment in East Village now”.

Me: “What's next?”

Ross: “ I don’t know”.

Me: “Try some your old tricks”. (meaning: sending roses with chocolate).

Ross: “It probably won’t work this time”. Sighed again.

Me: “You are quite creative on this sort stuff, think of something”.

Ross: “Ya, ya, I am thinking”.

Me: “Ok, you won, let’s go”. I stood up.

Ross: “Women, you can’t live with them and you can't  live without them”.

Me: Pondering.

Note: for known reason  please allow me for  not giving away Ross’s real name
