今年的奧斯卡頒獎有幾項與往年不同的地方，一是主持人Hugh Jackman，
是澳大利亞的演員，在去年的影片[澳大利亞]中演一個彪悍而富同情心的牛仔，與Nicole Kidman有很精彩的演出(可惜未被看好)。

加上那曾在2004奧運會期間“迷”到不少美國人的澳大利亞口音，更添風趣，為近年來收看人數逐年下降的奧斯卡頒獎晚會帶來了新氣象。

舞台的設計，包括藍色的基調和略顯暗淡的燈光，據說是為了營造夜總會的氣氛。
突出歌舞的成分是為了給人帶來一種過去30年代好萊塢的“let's put on a show”的歌舞劇的情調。有一點是永遠不會變的，那就是好萊塢紳士淑女的服裝打扮，永遠受到品頭論足。
