Those identify with what they know.
If they happen to be "experts", this false identification will be more consequential.
My observation is, most people do identify with what they already know, including the smart ones. It is quite saddening to see the smart ones doing this.
Therefore Socrates's idea of the acknowledgement of one's own ignorance is profound wisdom despite its simplicity.
