If an accusation is initiated clearly by lying, and one chooses to defend it from there, then you know that person isn't after truth but the validation of the accusation itself. Thus that person makes himself a defender of liars, and hence he can not be honest. He is just defending his "side". It is a game for him. He should be glad if you play his game.
