It was necessary that a consistent power was to stay long enough in order to pull things through in profound reforms like those taking place in China. The situation was and still is tougher than we know. We can observe a great deal in how ruthless the west has been in attempt to pull China down in the past few years. And merely in WXC we can see how uneven Chinese people are. Always there are those making things worse. We are not in the leadership, hence we can't feel the severity and pressure as the leadership does.
But that doesn't mean 鄧 was wrong in restricting the leadership to two terms. Deng was sincere, so was Xi.
I now believe Xi is a great man.
