try not to let the extremes lead you. These two cases, Gu and 徐州婦 don't necessarily contradict each other. 

Take away the glory of the Olympic gold from Gu, there is just a teenager who was raised by a single Chinese mom and her Caucasian father appears rather mysterious, and she is now torn by politics and strangers. Not a blessing at all in this aspect.

Both stories are cases of incompleteness of humanity though one appears a lot worse than the other.
