A paradox: all modern technologies are based on the physics of electrodynamics which was built upon Maxwell's work (Maxwell's four equations), yet Maxwell didn't become wealthy for this work. Gates, Jobs, Zuckerberg etc. did, and their wealths translated into political influences too.
