Interesting concern. I thought about that too. It may be a consequence to the locality of our daily lives as so limited a life form we humans are. For instance, no way the bending of space-time as a result of universal gravitation becomes noticeable to us given our insignificant physical extents in this universe - our experience is just non-universal. Hence space and time always appear to us as separate, flat and even.
Only in occasions we experience the non-linearity of reality, as an example at hand: the exponential spread of the covid-19 . But then our mind is taken surprise and interprets it as an anomaly rather then some opportunity for a glimpse into the wider reality.
