According to reviews by its readers, especially appreciating readers, it is a very ambitious novel which is supposed to cover a broad spectrum of human experiences with profound insights in many branches of human disciplines. But neither those passages I read nor its author's comments outside the novel showed anything close to this quality. In contrast, they showed a great deal of limitations, misconceptions and immaturity.
Supposedly Li committed a great amount of time and energy in completing this work, so I don't like to discredit his talents and efforts, but if he plans to write future works, I am thinking honest comments like mine may be useful for those works to come.
但立和姚順似乎有點像,都是聽不進意見的,而且都很片麵地崇洋。片麵就不可能深刻。不深刻不可能有深刻的作品。
My two cents.
