光緒二十五年，京師大學堂頒布《京師大學堂禁約》：“戒咳唾便溺不擇地而施。屋宇地麵皆宜潔淨，痰唾任意，最足生厭。廳堂齋舍多備痰盂。便溺汙穢，尤非所宜。是宜切記，違者記過。”

堂堂國之棟梁，天之驕子尚且如此，平民百姓可見一斑。
