本來寫了一段跟帖，覺得說寬泛了，便刪了。再貼一次，是回應上麵港府與北京無良策，衹在猶豫的:
They keep hesitating because they don't know what the cause is. The true cause is as I pointed out colonialism with its aftereffect as part of its life. On the surface, communism lives on, but it is really dead (no one in Beijing still has faith in communism, I believe). Colonialism on the surface is dead, but in reality it lives on, in people's minds. Not just in the minds of those protesters upholding British flags in the streets of HK, but also in the mind of the HK government and even in the mind of Beijing. This is why no one has yet mentioned this key word "colonialism". Westerners didn't mention it because "there is a ghost in their mind". The Chinese didn't mention it because we in subconsciousness believe colonialism is good. Is it not true that some IDs in this forum defend Liu xiaobo by claiming his notion of colonialism being proper with "香港模式" ? (Funny, they think they can choose how to be colonized).
Therefore HK today is just an expression of our joint karma as Chinese.
There is no technical solution to colonialism's late life, one can only depend on his wisdom and react spontaneous ly when an event comes up. This time one can pinpoint the economic or political causes of the event, but it is not going to be the final solution. However I don't share your pessimism. Karma is to be burnt out. The magnitude of the Chinese reality holds enough energy to accomplish this for as we can observe from the present HK event, whatever outside this goal is either absurd (the protesters) or in constant hesitation
