I once spoke with a college student of Inidan descent

who had read some Japanese and Chinese post-war literature. He said the Japanese ones were well done while the Chinese ones made little sense to him.

Our writers spent all their energy in serving the Communist propaganda and missed the most important subjects in our modern history.   Those Japanese literature won the Indian youth's sympathy while the Chinese suffering was largely unknown to him.
