Watching Byron Scott kissing Kobe's A is ridiculous. He trashed the Lakers for "not being able to play at this level" - meaning the win was a fluke. So much for a coach that believes in his players. Then he went on to say "team needs to learn how to lean on Kobe" - a subtle jab at the rest of the Lakers to tone it down and Kobe is still the man and will remain the man as long as Scott's coaching. He sure knows how not to bite the hand that feeds him. When pointed out that Kobe-less Lakers have plus 11.1 rating per 100 possessions, and with Kobe it's minus 13 rating, Scott dismissed it as "just a crazy stat anyway". Heh heh.
How about non-crazy stats Scott? Kobe shooting 37% = hurting the team. Rest of Lakers collectively shoots 50% almost every game this season. Kobe's offensive efficiency is one of the lowest in the league. His style of offense purely as a jump shooter hurts the team too as he doesn't try to draw fouls and get the opponents in foul trouble. Finally, with Kobe, everyone knows they won't see the ball much so they just stand around and watch him do his isolation misses.
