Bad contract is bad because of its length, rarely it was because of the money in one year. Dampier, the once self-claimed 2nd best center behind Shaq, signed a 7-year 70+ million deal with Dallas. His performance went downhills with full gas without any brake, right after the contract year and big contract. There was outrage among fans in the beginning, then people just got used to it. He played a few minutes here and there, or no minutes at all. He was quiet, and quickly collected hard fouls and maybe a few rebounds at garbage time. He was Dallas' victory cigar.

LeFrentz signed a similar deal after great performance in a contract year, with guess who, Cuban again. Partially because of injury, partially talent and effort, he became another victory cigar. People were not mad at them, it's Cuban's money, after all. They were laughed at, every now and then, in the media, but there was no real controversy or blame.

You know why? Because they quietly enjoyed their money, didn't analyze their victory cigar status or their thoughts or plays after every game, and they didn't announce their determination how they wanted to try harder or get better.

Lin's recent games were simply atrocious. It had nothing to do with money, or Kobe, or coach, or Price. I couldn't care less whether it's his feelings, or heart, or mood, or God knows what. It's a fact those were poor games. He either gets better or not. I am just wondering whether B2B is a serious curse, that even if he only played 15 minutes in previous game, he would still be dead horse in the 2nd game, but OMG, it's a B2B!

As a Chinese, I am glad he got fame and money. I wish him luck and all the best in life. I watch basketball because I like it, and I want to see hard competing and exciting games, not because I love to see a Chinese face (I can see everywhere, including into the mirror).
