That's their job to be sensational. Just like commentators claimed that Harden and Lin were the best backcourt in the league after 2 games, they just say things to catch attention. Remeber two weeks ago, every commentator was raving about how Manning is at a totally different level than everyone else and how the record could be broken?
Luck played a great game last night, no doubt about that. The whole Colts team played with extra motivation and energy, as if they really wanted to get out there to get Manning. But let's face it, Brancos' strongest point is Manning and offense, if a 39-33 home game is Luck outplaying Manning, it would imply that defense from both teams are comparable. They are certainly not.
Sure, they play different styles, but didn't Griffin III ran a lot better? He showed flashes and promises last year, is he a better quarterback? Of course not. Rodgers has a much more complete game than Luck, but with the way Manning is playing, nobody is better than him now.
One more thing, Luck surely wants to prove himself and show the league that he can lead the Colts and fill Manning's big shoes. But I don't think he wanted to "prove" he's the better one. He can't, not in one game, even if he had had a 40-0.
