If the record of 100M is 9.67 second and if one guy could run 9.66 once, then the guy makes a record.
Another guy running 9.67 or 9.68 10 times in a row, 9.67 10 years in a row, winning every time when running with the first guy, he can only be regarded as a great guy. The 100M RECORD belongs to the 9.66 guy. In tennis, what RECORD is the most important? The number of titles in French Open? The number of titles in ATP 1000? French Open is one of the four(probably lowest paid among the four), A master is one of 10. In my mind, a master is less valuable than the World Final,  which plays once a year among top 8. This equals to quaters in a slam. We will see Nadal make a record of 18 in 2015.
