Playing style is decided by your roster, not necessarily by design. Like I said last night, James Harden sucked donkey balls royally in the game. But it's not McHale's design. No matter how you disrespect his coaching ability, he wouldn't have said, "Harden, I know you've been missing. But what the hell, just hold the ball for 15 seconds and shoot a contested long 3." McHale might not have given specific advice, but he did say many times during timeouts, "guys, let's move the ball.
McHale couldn't make Harden to play smarter last night. Parsons leading the charge wasn't coach's decision, but rather CP took own initiatives and came up big time. Actually that's what I wanted Jeremy to do. Be daring to lead, and be daring to take responsibility.
Speaking of mid-range game, nobody on Rockets has one.
