The stick was deemed illegal and McSorley was given a two-minute minor penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct. As it was late in the game and Montreal was facing the prospect of going to Los Angeles down two games to none, Demers pulled goalie Patrick Roy, producing a 6-on-4 advantage for the Canadiens. In dramatic fashion, Montreal's Éric Desjardins scored from the point to tie the game at two and force overtime.”

這個雖然合法但很陰險的伎倆成了整個係列的分水嶺，Kings從此一蹶不振，輸掉了整個係列，Gretzky從此再也沒有進過決賽，他當教練八成也玩不轉這種東西。
