Competing for the Chinese Liberation Army, Ning earned a gold medal in the 100-meter free, setting a new CISM world record at 48.48. He won another gold in the men’s 50-meter free.[15] He was not in his best physical state at the games due to a wrist injury sustained a few months prior to the competition.[16]
