game plans and players overachieving performance EXCEPT the last two minute's.
The Giants came into the game with 6-points underdog. On paper the Cowboys was a much better team. The Giants were mismatched in every phrase. Most if not all football expertise & game analysts had written them off before the game was played. Many Cowboys fans talked about how the Cowboys juggernaut would blow the Giants out.
Steve Spagnuolo is the first year defensive coordinator. His system is more complicated than his precedessor. With many new players & two key starters out, the Giants defense had slim chance to face the Cowboys monstrous OL & Tony Romo led offense.
The Giants offense had better luck than their defensive unit but the new OL & Victor Cruz's injury dimished the effectiveness of all offensive game plans. As VC's backup, P. Parker had an awful show as he dropped two key third down passes. Their RB, like what happened the last 7 years, found no running lane to accelerate.
In short, the Cowboys powerhouse should shatter the Giants into pieces.
But the Giants fought the Cowboys punch to punch along the game though their invisible DL generated zero QB pressure & disastrous officiating helped the Cowboys coming back to the game in all ways.
People blamed TC's no running & Eli's stupidity not to take a sack on the critical 3rd down call but the game would not be that close if TC did not have a good game plan heading into the game & Eli-led offense committed mistakes. I was satisfied with the Giants (except the last 8 minutes) as they exceeded my expectation but unfortunately the Giants lack talents in some spots like LB crops.
We shouldn't think too much about the first game of regular season but it was encouraging. I believe that the team will improve.
P.S: I kept preaching that Tom Coughlin is too old for modern football games as he messed up again in clock management last night. The Giants organization, however, can't fire him because he has two SB under his belt.
