試英譯李後主 《虞美人》 “春花秋月何時了”

春花秋月何時了，往事知多少。小樓昨夜又東風，故國不堪回首月明中。
雕闌玉砌應猶在，隻是朱顏改。問君能有幾多愁，恰是一江春水向東流。

 

Will spring blooms and the autumn moon rise no more?
Uncounted memories they recall
Again east wind came by my humble room the past night
Unbearable a gaze toward my homeland by the clear moonlight

The carved rails, stairs of jade, must still lie enduring
Only the once rosy face paling
If to ask how much sorrow my heart holds
Much as a spring flood ever to the east flows
