3 to 5 strobes are used. You need to have two lights for frontal lighting. You need one for backdrop. You may need another one for hair.
Continuous lights would be too hot. I recommend that you consider to use cheap flash lights depending on camera you have.
Light temperature is not critical. More important thing is consistency of all light sources.
