5D2's noise per pixel is about 1 stop better than 5D's, but has almost twice as many pixels (that is, at half the collection area, it achieve 1 stop improvement).  At 1600, 5D2's noise is almost invisible at the pixel level. I expect/hope that 5D3's ISO 6400 is as clean as 5D2's 1600.
