Let him run around if you have a fenced yard. Rabbits are food

food to predators such as dog, cat, fox, big birds. I saw a big bird diving down from sky and catching a running rabbit.  

I used to have rabbits kept in the backyard. One was attached by neighbor's dog with head bitten off.  If you let him go, he may never come back.
