Stray Dog Refuses to Leave Helpless Kitten’s Side

Goldie the stray shih-tzu was found in Anderson, South Carolina, barking in a ravine. Those who found her thought she was stuck, tangled in the briars. It turns out, she wasn’t stuck at all. She was watching over a helpless kitten, refusing to leave her side.

Animal control officer Michelle Smith noticed that the kitten was nursing at Goldie’s side, staying under her protection. She brought both animals in; even when they were in the shelter, the two acted as family.

A stray shih-tzu was found seemingly stuck in a ravine…

But actually, she was protecting a tiny, helpless kitten.

Goldie could have walked away from the kitten tangled in the briars, but she refused.

The two were taken to a shelter together and the dog continues to raise the kitten as its own.

Eventually, the two animals were accepted into a foster home together.

True love is truly blind.

Luckily, some kind soul is fostering both the dog and the kitten. It would be cruel to separate this family.
