1。資本主義社會就不能有社會福利?社會福利不就是政府把一部分人的財富轉移給另一部分人?
Of course you can. But there is a difference between capitalism and socialism. In socialist countries, wealth is transferred by force of the sovereignty.
In capitalism countries, wealth is also transferred by force of the sovereignty. It is enforced by tax law, you break the law by not paying tax, you go to jail.
The portion contributed by a group of people is significantly larger than the rest.
It is way the tax law defined. Higher income group pay higher tax rate. Period. Nothing to do with socialist or capitalist.
The direct result is the income of majority of the population is more or less the same, regardless their occupation and contribution to the society.
This is GOP’s deception. The TAX law has been around for centuries, but the riches got richer, and poor poorer.
2。這次奧巴馬提出的把收入25萬以上的人的稅收恢複到小布什之前的水平(不是增加!),是為了償還國債,而不是社會福利。這和社會主義資本主義有啥關係?減少國債是社會主義?
Bush reduced the tax for ALL Americans. Obama hike the tax only on 'rich' Americans whose income are more than $250k. Can you see the difference? I have no trouble to restore the tax code back to pre-Bush level, so that we can reduce the national debt. I even think Bush tax cut is a huge financial miscalculation. However, it is moral and material wrong to target a small group of people in name of social justice.
The Bush tax cuts meant to be temporary and like you said, they were huge financial miscalculation. They caused huge deficit and debt we are facing today. We should let them go. But, with today’s economy, the tax hike will disproportionately impact the low and middle incomers who are still struggling to recover from the recession; therefore, let Bush tax cuts expire only on 1% of super-rich is reasonable to me. BTW, actually, as a group, the super-rich are paying less tax than average Americans. Just look at mitt Romney and Warren Buffet. They are paying lower tax rate than the people work for them.
The funny thing is that many 250K+ families live in northeast or west coast. I believe many vote for Obama. Now they get the reward.
Not funny at all. Half of Wealthy Americans Agree with Buffett, Would Pay Higher Taxes. These are the people with good conscious and care about their countries.
