When I first arrived here to begin my Ph.D. program, I was a bit confused. My supervisor often mentioned a professor he knew well, Anthony Thompson. He sometimes referred to him as "Tony," and I didn't initially realize it was the same person. It took me a while to understand that "Tony" was simply a nickname for Anthony.
