On paper, 大公無私 is a good idea but a society is not sustainable if it relies on its members acting 大公無私. 屈原 was a great man but he died, so did his country. The only way to make a society long lasting is 利己利他.
What ZhuoZhuo failed to point out is, the true measurement of a thought is the impact of that thought, not the idea itself. In another word, idea with no action is meaningless. This is particular ture for those self pro-claimed Chinese patriots who do nothing but accusing their fellow country men being traitors. Anywhere in the world, those people are considered hypocrites and liers.
I am sure we've all heard the saying: action is louder than any words. "大公無私和利己利他" are just some personal opinions that totally dependent on the point of views. Too often those chanting the most 大公無私 ideas, are trying to convince or trick others into acting 大公無私. 中南海裏住滿了"滿嘴仁義道德,一肚子男盜女倡"的東西。
As to "最後說一下我的定義裏的極度自私的人,其中一種是中國把她養大,提供了她免費高等教育,分給她房子,她卻高喊著中國強大了會威脅她作為美籍華人利益的人,就是說中國衰弱了崩潰了才中她的意。" The unfortunate truth is China is the biggest threat to the rest of the world because of its size and potential. Chinese Americans are forever in a very uncomfortable position for that matter. I can only hope Chinese will learn the idea of coexist, not just "an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth".
