雨中，雨打著車的天窗緩行在上班路上。收音機裏講了一個憂傷的老電影，放了一首憂傷的老歌，一個情節很老套的故事。
羅拉和湯米是一對戀人，他們就要結婚了，湯米想送給羅拉結婚戒指和漂亮的花，可是湯米沒錢，無奈下，湯米隻有重操舊業。湯米是個飆車手，並以此為生，但當他遇到羅拉時，就沒有再飆車了。
湯米看見了一個告示，是一次飆車比賽的告示，獎金是一千元。時間正好是他和羅拉結婚的那天，湯米決定去，他一定會贏的，為了羅拉。他打電話給羅拉，羅拉不在。接電話的是羅拉母親，湯米說：告訴羅拉我愛她，告訴羅拉我需要她告訴羅拉我可能很遲我在做某件事情得過一會才能和她完成婚禮彎曲的跑道裏，湯米瘋狂地駕駛他的汽車，他的腦子裏隻有兩個字：羅拉，羅拉……他在那裏是最年輕的駕駛者，也是最瘋狂的賽車手，他越過一個又一個的對手。在一個彎曲的跑道上，再一個轉彎就到終點了，湯米始終在最前麵，可是，沒有人知道那天發生的事情，也沒有人知道他的汽車是如何結束-汽車在火焰中飛快的轉著。
當人們從汽車的殘骸抬起了湯米，藉由他的垂死呼吸，他們聽到他說：
告訴羅拉我愛她，告訴羅拉我需要她，告訴羅拉不要哭，我的愛為她而永從不消失......
羅拉在教堂裏坐立不安，她從母親的嘴裏，知道湯米為了她跑去賽車，等了很久，湯米還沒回來，羅拉心裏很不安，她決定去賽車場看看。
羅拉穿著結婚禮服，瘋狂地跑向賽車場，羅拉來的正是時候，當她踏進賽車場的時候，湯米的賽車正好翻了過去，一片模糊的淚光，擋住了羅拉的眼睛，紅紅的火焰，似乎正在燃燒著羅拉的心，羅拉昏了過去。
迷糊中，聽到湯米沉重而微弱的聲音在她耳邊，輕輕地說著：告訴羅拉我愛她，告訴羅拉我需要她，告訴羅拉不要哭，我的愛為她而永從不消失。
湯米死了，但他還活在羅拉的心中，她能聽到他的話語：告訴Laura我愛她， 告訴Laura我愛她… （zt）
