What Is SSI?

When many people think of Social Security, they think of people over the age of 65 drawing their retirement benefits. SSI or Supplemental Security Income is a different benefit. This resource is available to people who have limited income and fall in the categories of being over the age of 65 or being disabled or blind. Unlike traditional Social Security benefits, recipients of SSI don’t need to have a work history to qualify.
