文革爆發那年我正在上小學4年級. 初中畢業時恢複了高中，學製兩年，大約是百分之十。班上有個同學，學習特好，特別想上高中，但是他爸爸有 "historical issues"，沒有上上高中。That was me! 

我說的是北京，別的地方就不知道了. I skipped grade 2, otherwise 文革爆發那年我正在上小學三年級. 

i want to a vocational school through a back-door to avoid going to the countryside. That was the only year where vocational school enrolled graduates from mid school. The year after the vocational school enrolls only from labor force, 'worker-peasant-soldier' students. Had I not skip a grade, I might have no where to go but the countryside. On the other hand, I might be able to go to a high school with increase quota. Either way, my life would be change significantly.
