as this : if the student is unsatified, he can file a complaint to the department or college. each college has a committee(make up by faculty) to handle this type of the cases. they will look at your syllabus, his detailed grades, exams... then they will give a decision to student and you. if either side is unsatisfied, he can appeal to next level, and you are very likely to be called to testify in this case, and student may have a lawyer. most faculties are quite fair, but it is definetly a hassle to go to the next level.
so, you should have a clear explaination of that 5 extra points. otherwise, it shouldn't affect your evaluation overall. I think you should have a student evaluation already at end of the term. it is part of university life, there are always a few students rather fight for grades than study.
