高路上被指控fail to yield to emergency vehicle

事情經過是這樣的，幾天前，我在高速公路上開車，看前方不遠處的shoulder上停了一輛警車和一輛正在吃罰單的小車。我減速從邊上開過去。但是沒一會兒，那輛警車快速鳴笛跟上來，我幹緊靠邊停下。警察過來問我：你知道為什莫讓你聽下嗎？我說：可能是超速吧。他說：No. You should change to the other lanes when you see an emergency police car. I said: there are many cars around my car. I cannot change to another lane. 可事實是我根本不知道這條交通法規。可警察說：你周圍沒有車，我看見啦。然後就開了一張罰單。 寫的是：failed to yield to stationary emergency vehicle.
我以為事情到此了解，交錢就完事了。誰知電話過去，要求我必須到法庭上陳述原因。在庭上，法官說這個case屬於輕罪，最高可罰￥500 或者在監獄呆90天，或者兩者一起。一聽如此嚴重，我就去谘詢了律師，律師說的很不清楚，她能做到的就是和對方協商，免掉我的輕罪，其他的辦不到。律師費$750.
請問老貓和各位有經驗的朋友：

1.我需要請一個律師嗎？我問的這個律師怎麽樣？
2.如果不請律師，我應該怎麽說才能減輕我的這項罪名。
3.如果有輕罪記錄，會影響我今後找工作嗎？
4.老貓，能幫我找出我犯的是哪一條哪一款嗎？
