We have similar type of incident in Las Vegas Hotels everyday. Here is what is going to happen in Vegas.
1. Hotel only liable if the employee is a known felon. Which hotel conduct background check on everybody and I guarantee this guy is not. So hotel is not liable for first offender. Plus, Hotel has house safe and in room safe, if you fail to secure your valuable that is on you.
2. Everything you can think of, people tried before. People hardly win.
3. Hotel and Guest does not have landlord and tenant relationship. Therefore, employee does not need your permit to enter your room.
4. Camera only see him enter the room. Does camera see him exit the room with above mentioned items? That is a lot stuff and will show on the camera.
5. You can not proof that you have the above items when you checked in.
Sorry to tell you this that unless you have stronger arguments, you can not win.
Here is the real answer.
