My car'd door hit the car next to mine

Today when we park car in a theme park, my car door hit the truck next to me.

I was driving the car. I parked too close to the truck. When my hu*****and got off the car, his door hit the truck. I heard the sound.

Then the truck driver came to me and show me the dent. I said "I'm really sorry. Let me look at it." The driver said, "You just hit my car". I reparked my car and made the space between two cars bigger, and got off. The dent was big, and the paint was gone. My hu*****and said I should not repark my car, because It made it hard to match the door with the dent. But, I knew that he knew the door hit the truck. I said, we should pay him. Actually, I was thinking we should talk about insurance or pay him cash, and how much if we pay cash.

Even the dent was big and obivious, it's still a dent. It's not necessary to repair just because of this. But we still should be responsible for that. We don't have much cash with us, but I wish my hu*****and can step up and say to the truck driver "how about I pay you a hundred dollars?" and write a check to him. But he didn't.

Then the truck driver came back to me, said "forget aobut it." Looking at the driver and his female friend walking away, I feel very upset.

This is the second time my door hit other's car. First time happened in the first year we came to USA (now, 7 years). At that time, we didn't know much about car. Totally no idea about insurance, who's responsibility....

My question is, usually, in this case, can we pay him a hundrend dollar cash to solve this? If we really take the dent to bodyshop, it may need more than a hundred, but I believe nobody will go to the bodyshop just for this dent, at least I won't. The truck is not a brand new, but is still very new, about 2-3 years. I guess.
