My parents came from China yesterday. When they passed the custom, the officer asked them if they took any meat with them, such as pork, beef… My parents took some jerk beef with them. They didn’t hear the officer very clearly (the officer is an American) and thought jerk beef shouldn’t be counted as meat, so they said no. When the officer found the jerk beef, she said my parents lied to them, and asked for $300 fine. My parents only have $100 cash with them, no credit card. After a negotiation with the officer by a translator, the officer said due to this is their first time to United States, she waived the fine. But she took my parents’ passports in her office for a long time, then she let my parents go. I wonder is there any bad record under my parents and would that impact they get visa next time? Thanks for any help!
Help, please!
