A good DA would never bring such case to trial because almost all juries with kids have done something similar in their life. Furthermore how does DA prove that you didn't
check your kids through shop's window during the 20 minutes the off duty cop claiming you were absent? Finally there is
no injury to either of your kids. Child neglect is seldom
charged when there is no injury to the child. To put it another way, there is not enough resources for the DA to
prosecute all the child neglects with minor injury to child.

I don't suggest you waste a lot of money to hire a lawyer at this point. You may want to prepare some documents to show DA that you are good parents. Therefore helping the
DA to reach the correct decision, i.e. not to prosecute
you.
