For example, you have
A fund/stock M units, price=MP
B fund/stock N units, price= NP
(It is very easy to find the prices on internet every day)
Total= MP *M+ NP *N
So you can calculate out your total amount every day if you have time.
If your account balance doesn’t match the total amount you calculated, maybe the updating of the website was delayed. You track several days, you will understand.
In your case, the balance dropped, three possibilities (1) the M and N were changed to smaller, (2) computer system got wrong, (3) you money was moved. The company gave you an explanation (by speed and diligence) which tell you nothing.
Several advices
(1) Learn some investment knowledge. Based on your post, your knowledge is not enough to protect yourself.
(2) Don’t worry too much. If a financial company wants to cheat, your money is too small to be targeted.
(3) The management of this company looks messy. But your investment is good (22% return in 4 months). Leave this company or not, do the judgment yourself.
(4) In your hand, you must keep the legal documents --- what fund/stock, how many units you have.
(5) I don’t know your contact with the company. Generally if they want to trade your fund/stock, they must get your YES. So everything should be under your control.
(6) In my experience, the polite complaint will get serious response. Don’t yell, which help nothing.
