car accident injury...help ple

my wife involved in a car accident one years ago. She did not stop in time at the red light and hit the car in front of her. The police gave her a verbal warning that she was following too close to the front car. None of the driver are injure at the moment. We paid by ourselve about 2K to fix our car body damage.

The other driver file a law suit againist us. Claiming he is injured. Our liablity cover is only 100K. Obviously the driver is ask for more.

I don't have experience in law suit at all. what the consequences will be. Will this put a financial burden on us?

Also, because we moved to anohter town, we missed the deposition requested by the plaintiff's lawyer, due to mail forwarding delay. Will this put us in trouble? thank you very much for your help
