研究完了勞動法，咱再研究一下掃雪的問題。
來美國這麽多年，我一直以為下了雪是一定要盡快掃幹淨的，特別是家門口的人行道什麽的。否則有人摔跤出了問題，作為房子主人或者租戶，您是要破財的。。。結果研究了一下，原來完全不是那麽回事情！別看事情看起來不大，這可是個To be or not to be的問題。
簡單地說，你要是不掃雪又請了一屋子客人到您家打麻將，如果有客人在您的地界摔了，您沒有責任賠償。惡還惡（OHIO）州最高法院就有一個專門的判例，法官認為：住在惡還惡，您就應該知道老天有多惡。下雪結冰天，出門要小心，摔了您也得自認倒黴：
The Supreme Court ruled that property owners have no duty "to eliminate natural accumulations of ice and snow from sidewalks" or even to warn of the dangers. The court explained: "Living in Ohio during the winter has its inherent dangers. . . . Perhaps [the homeowner] should have shoveled and salted the sidewalk as a matter of courtesy to their guests. However, we find that Ohio law imposed no such obligation." All of the justices agreed that "everyone is assumed to appreciate the risks associated with natural accumulations of ice and snow and, therefore, everyone is responsible to protect himself or herself."
但是如果不掃，自己也不方便。下了半米深的雪，您要想不鏟雪把車從車庫裏開出去，輪式車輛估計就不夠用了，那就真得開坦克裝甲車什麽的上街了。一旦決定掃，一定要掃幹淨。如果您掃了但是沒掃幹淨，客人出了事情，您就有責任賠償了。
這麽看來，隻掃車道而不掃門前的人行道似乎是個好主意。就是有人摔了也不能告您不是？
又錯了。每個城鎮往往還有當地法規，如果下雪不掃人行道是要罰款地。。。
前天的這場大雪給美國中西部廣大人民帶來了很多麻煩。大雪至少造成13人死亡，直接導致大量的航班取消，火車誤點，無數的司機被困在高速公路上, 居然還引起了火災。。。值得表揚的是國民警衛隊。。。他們雪中送。。。麥當勞漢堡包。伊州有I85一段公路上有不少被困，國民警衛隊的直升機給他們送去了 100個熱騰騰的包子
