Engagement ring is an except to the general rule of gift. it shall be returned if the promise of marriage will not be achieved in the future, unless the engagement ring was given on a special day, such as her birthday, thanksgiving day, christmas day...or any other similar holidays.(the rationale is that if the gift －－ engagement ring -- is based on additional consideration, it will become irrevocable.)
