how to select a attorney

1)as a general rule, avoid chinese lawyer.
2)go to your local library's reference desk, ask them about the magazines that have the top lawyer list by practicing fields.
3)call the top guys and interview them, ask them their rough age and experience on the field you are interested in, their education, any professional title or role, their website if any, their rate and above all, references, ask for at least 2. also talk about your situation and ask for what is their strategy and possibe outcome. many lawyers will not be straight.But pushing as hard as you can. If you don't like the lawyer in the beginning, you won't like him/her later.
4)don't sign any retainer agreement right away, read if first
5)call your state's superior court to verify the information you got about his/her background,ask if any disciplinary history
6)monitor their progress and voice your concern, if satisfied, fire him/her and get a new one
7)For other's sake, persue the bad attorneys relentlessly in the court.
