Yeah it is a criminal offence.

Not knowing which canadian province you are in, I can only answer in general that hit and run is a criminal offence. If it is your first criminal offense, your best result would be to get a suspended sentence and serve no jail time, but you will have a criminal record.

Your best bet would be hire a lawyer and negotiate that suspended sentence. If you don't hire a lawyer, you might ended up in jail to serve out a real sentence.

Don't keep on asking about whether this will impact your chance of immigration, get a lawyer.
