the seller intentionally provided the wrong information. U cannot trust too much about others without thinking, either in the US or China. Feel really sorry for you. I am not a lawer. Lexm5 suggests u to give a try. I guess trying it will not hurt anything. Sorry cannot be further helpful. I truly understand buying a house is big investment.
