No problem.
I did the same before. The son of my friend is a new univ student. His computer broken a few days just before the final exam. my friend is living from paycheque to paycheque. She cannot afford the sudden $400, So I give her son $400 cash and her son wrote me a $4000 invoice. Her son can easily later write off his computer, cell phone, desk and parts of his rent/utility costs against the $4000 income. It is a win-win solution.
