Her lawyer is a personal injury lawyer. Slip-n-fall kinda stuff. Wonder why she want 5 mil? Anyway, if she wins, the actual damage would have to be determined by the jury. If the judge thinks it it too high, he can reduce it. Also, I think under FTCA, the medical expense the US government already paid will be deducted from the damage. Minus 25-40% lawyer's fee. There is not going to be much left.
