At the begining, I got too many calls from agency but there was no real progress though quite many phone interviews.
Later I did not work with any agency. Insetad, I communicated with the recuriter in the hiring company directly. What I mentioned the 3 emails were all from the hiring company directly.
Actually there have been some kind of company league for long time. In Silicon Valley, several big semi-conductor companies changed info about employee before they hired the engineer worked among them. That is to prevent the higher salary when the company competite for engineers. Later on, some agreement were restricted by the law. I saw these news sometime ago.
