也問一個遺產的問題

朋友62歲，老美，結婚八年老公剛去世，兩人沒孩。他們的婚姻好像沒有得到老公兒子的承認。據說她老公跟她結婚前曾立遺囑說死後所有東西歸兒子，但結婚後雖然兩人感情不錯也沒改這遺囑，因為是在德州。現在朋友當然繼承了財產。不過朋友有嚴重的哮喘病，心髒又不好，她覺得好像活不長的，她說她死後想把遺產流給她弟弟。
請問這遺產是可以留給她弟弟嗎，還是丈夫的兒子自然而然的繼承這個遺產？
