Dear Ms. Debi Vis:
I had a contractor come to my place yesterday. His truck parked in front my house temporarily, not in the fire lane, not blocking any road or others' driveway. While he was in my place, I had my garage door open, which clearly indicated there were people inside the house.
Then, this towing truck came, trying to tow my contractor's car away. After we stopped the towing truck driver, he asked for a payment of $175.00 right away or $299.00 if paid tomorrow in order to get the car back. After the police showed up, the truck driver reduced the price to $87.00. He said it was you who authorized him to do so.
I have two questions:
1) What are the parking policies for our community?
2) What kind of authorization did you give to this towing company? Can they tow whenever a violation happens? Or do they have to obtain permission from an authorized community member? What is the procedure for contacting/warning the car owner before any towing can be authorized? Please show me the rules regarding towing procedures and authorization privileges.
Thanks,
xkk
