美國插在月球多麵國旗依然直立

 

據英國《每日郵報》網站7月29日報道，在上世紀60年代到70年代美國的6次登月之旅中，每一次宇航員都會在月球表麵插上一麵國旗，作為美國成功登月的標誌。從最新照片可以看到，除1969年第一次成功登月後留下的那麵國旗外，其餘5麵仍然直立在月球上。
 
    月球探測器發回的最新高分辨率圖像顯示，隨著月球圍繞自己的軌道運行，這些美國國旗產生了陰影，據此科學家得出了它們還處於直立狀態的結論。
 
    月球衛星項目的研究者馬克·羅賓遜27日接受采訪時說：“1969年執行第一次登月任務的登月艙駕駛員巴茲·奧爾德林也曾報告稱，‘阿波羅11號’在離開月球的過程中，其引擎噴射出的強大氣流吹倒了那麵國旗，而這一說法正好與目前的結論相吻合。”
 
    現在，最新發回的這批照片證明了大部分國旗依然存在。“就個人而言我感到有些驚訝，這些國旗在嚴重的紫外線照射、月球表麵高溫等惡劣環境中竟然還能存在。”羅賓遜說。
 
    1969年7月20日，“阿波羅11號”載人登月任務成功完成。執行登月任務的宇航員阿姆斯特朗通過電視直播喊出這樣一句話：“這是我個人的一小步，卻是全人類的一大步。”

Decades later, America's mark on the moon remains: All but one of the flags left by the Apollo missions are still flying. Scientists reviewed photos taken by the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, sent to study the moon in 2009. The images show shadows revolving throughout the day around the flags' believed locations, the BBC reports. "I was a bit surprised that the flags survived the harsh ultraviolet light and temperatures of the lunar surface, but they did," says one of the scientists. The only fallen flag is from Apollo 11, just as Buzz Aldrin has said: Engine exhaust knocked it over when the vehicle took off.
